Final regular-season Top 25 Michigan high school girls basketball teams – MLive.com

The final week of the Michigan high school girls basketball regular season was a bit sparce, with top several top teams opting not to play rather than risk a COVID-induced quarantine before the playoffs.

Still, the top teams continued to flex their muscles, warming up for long playoff runs.

The MHSAA girls basketball district tournaments began Monday, with the championships Saturday, April 9 at the Breslin Center at Michigan State University.

The final regular-season Michigan high school girls basketball Top 25:

25. Detroit Cass Tech (10-2)

Division 1

Cass Tech put up a quality win over Bloomfield Hills Marian, with its losses coming against Detroit Edison and Harper Woods Chandler Park. Cass Tech earned a 60-5 win over Detroit Martin Luther King the PSL tournament.

24. Flushing (13-2)

Division 1

After starting the season 1-2, with losses to Midland Dow and Frankenmuth, Flushing has reeled off 12 consecutive victories, including wins over Fenton and Corunna to finish off the regular season.

23. Farmington Hills Mercy (12-3)

Division 1

Mercy is hitting the playoffs with plenty of momentum after beating Warren Regina and Bloomfield Hills Marian in the Detroit Catholic League tournament.

22. Byron (15-0)

Division 3

Byron wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 54-49 win over a quality Michigan Center team before knocking off Montrose, 70-55.

Saline beats Pioneer 58-34 at home on Tuesday night

21. Ann Arbor Pioneer (11-2)

Division 1

Pioneer finished the regular season with a quality win, beating a good Temperance Bedford, 43-24, to finish the season.

Kalamazoo Central dominates Mattawan 25-61

20. Kalamazoo Central (11-1)

Division 1

Kalamazoo Central did not play in the final week of the regular season, finishing the year with an 11-1 record.

19. Macomb L’Anse Creuse North (15-0)

Division 1

L’Anse Creuse North wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 47-32 win over Grosse Pointe North and a 60-49 win over Macomb Dakota.

18. Kent City (15-0)

Division 3

Kent City beat Morley Stanwood, 65-36, but an anticipated showdown with East Grand Rapids was canceled, robbing Kent City of a potential signature win.

17. Grand Rapids West Catholic (13-0)

Division 2

An easy win over Holland Christian, 61-30, capped off an undefeated regular season for West Catholic.

16. Frankenmuth (15-1)

Division 2

After Division 1 power Midland Dow ruined Frankenmuth’s potential undefeated regular season, the Eagles rebounded with wins over Alma and Bridgeport to win the Tri-Valley Conference East title.

Division 1

East Kentwood has some good wins but a loss to Jenison in the final week took away some of the team’s momentum going into the playoffs. East Kentwood did post a win over Grand Haven, 64-35.

14. Detroit Renaissance (7-4)

Division 1

Renaissance played a quality schedule, hurting its win-loss record. Renaissance also opted to take the final week of the regular season off.

13. Harper Woods Chandler Park (14-2)

Division 2

Chandler Park finished off a strong regular season with a 55-43 win over Parma Western and a 62-23 win over Mount Clemens.

Division 3

Arbor Prep chose to finish the regular season at 11-2, opting not to play in the final week.

11. Byron Center (12-2)

Division 1

Byron Center beat Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central, 65-42, to end the season at 12-2.

10. Wayne Memorial (12-1)

Division 1

Wayne Memorial cruised past Livonia Franklin to enter the playoffs with a 12-1 record.

Grass Lake finished off an outstanding regular season, knocking off Michigan Center twice to claim the outright Cascades Conference championship.

8. East Grand Rapids (11-2)

Division 1

East Grand Rapids was scheduled to play Kent City in anticipated matchup between top teams, but it was postponed, leaving East Grand Rapids without a game in the final week of the season.

7. West Bloomfield (10-3)

Division 1

West Bloomfield finished the season with a 52-35 win over Royal Oak and will not play in the tournament because of a COVID close-contact quarantine, finishing the season with a 10-3 record.

Saline finished the regular season strong with a pair of wins, beating Ann Arbor Huron, 69-33, and Ann Arbor Skyline, 58-22.

5. Midland Dow (17-0)

Division 1

Midland Dow claimed the outright Saginaw Valley League championship with a 61-34 win over Grand Blanc and a 52-44 victory over Davison.

East Lansing had no problem blowing past Holt, 65-50, and Grand Ledge, 79-43, to finish the season with an undefeated record.

Hartland’s undefeated record stayed intact with a pair of wins in the final week, beating Salem, 52-17, and Grand Blanc, 56-26.

Division 1

Hudsonville finished off a successful regular season with a pair of impressive wins, knocking off Grand Haven, 56-30, and Rockford, 58-50.

1. Detroit Edison (10-0)

Division 2

Detroit Edison only played 10 games and did not play in the final week of the regular season, not that it needed to prove anything. Edison played one of the most competitive schedules in the state, finishing 10-0 with an eye on yet another Division 2 state title.
