LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The NSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament is underway at in Lincoln. The tournament has an expanded format this year with games spanning 5 days from March 9-13.

Wednesday, March 10
FINAL: Waverly 41, Omaha Skutt 40. Andrew Heffelfinger scored 14 points, including the game-winner, as the Vikings beat Omaha Skutt in the first game of the day at state basketball. Waverly head coach Ryan Reeder credited his team’s attitude and willingness to play for one another.
FINAL: St. Mary’s 62, Osceola 50. The top-seeded Cardinals pulled away in the second half for the school’s first win at the State Tournament since 2013. St. Mary’s was led by Aidan Hedstrom’s 21 points. The upset-minded Bulldogs, who played St. Mary’s tough throughout the game, had three players score in double figures, including Isaiah Zelasney, who finished with 15 points.
FINAL: GICC 58, Tri County 29. GICC built a 10-point lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 29-point win in the Class C2 Quarterfinals. Gil Jengmer scored a game-high 13 points for the Crusaders, while Dei Jengmer and Koby Bales added 10 points each. Carter Siems paced Tri County with 10 points. Wednesday’s game was Tri County’s first state appearance since 1988.
FINAL: Burwell 53, Central Valley 45.
FINAL: Beatrice 49, Mt. Michael 39. Beatrice is back in the state tournament for the first time since 2015 and it didn’t take long for fans to notice. The Orangemen used a great defensive effort to advance to Friday’s semifinal round. Bennett Crandall scored 19 points while Devin Smith added 15 for Beatrice.
FINAL: Auburn 51, Pierce 28. Senior Cam Binder got hot early as the Bulldogs rolled by the Bluejays on Wednesday afternoon. Auburn and head coach Jim Weeks are looking to make it three titles in a row.
FINAL: Howells Dodge 68, Walthill 49.
FINAL: Parkview Christian 71, Loomis 54.
FINAL: Cedar Catholic 40, Freeman 37.
